Edwin Willie Young, age 90, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, February 27, 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the only child of the late Edwin W. Young and Louise Hamilton Young. A WWII veteran, he served two years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Charles H. Roan. Edwin worked 10 years for Security Van Lines, and worked 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring at the age of 73 with many service awards. Edwin is survived by his wife of 52 years Barbara DeGrange Moore Young, son Edwin Young (Helen), step-children Jules Moore, Jr., Barbette M. Boutte', Ellen Moore, Timothy Moore, Sr. (Joycelyn), Lorie Moore and Leslie M. Maxwell (Edward), 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law Evelyn D. Ricard, Linda D. Saulny (Stanley, Sr.) and Antoinette D. DeGrange. Preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Anthony Boutte', brothers-in-law George Jr., Elmore and Melvin DeGrange, Sr., Emmett Ricard, Herbert Richardson, Sr., and sister-in-law Angela Richardson. Relatives and friends, employees of the U.S. Postal Service are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 3368 Esplanade Ave., NOLA. Visitation at 11:00am. Interment at St. Roch Cemetery #2, NOLA.
