Obituary for Louis C Isidore

Louis C  Isidore

Louis C. "DoDo" Isidore, Jr., was born on October 8, 1925 in New Orleans, LA to Louis and Rosa Slie Isidore. He entered into eternal rest at his home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Louis was the husband of Yolanda Legeaux Isidore and father of the late Dwayne Louis Isidore and is survived by his daughters, Deslie Ann Isidore and Deryl Marie Isidore. He was the grandfather of Lindsey Isidore White, Jordan Lang Melton, Olivia Antonia Lang and Gene Eric Lang. He was the great grandfather of Christopher Eric Melton, Aaliyah Isabella Thorpe and the late Lillyana Sage Thorpe. He was the oldest brother of Wilber Isidore, Jewel Bell, Joycelyn "Pinkie" Decoud, Beverly Sanders and the late Loisel Isidore and Tyrone Isidore. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Iris Isidore, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law, Alec Decoud and Stanley Bell. He was a graduate of Corpus Christi Elementary School, McDonough 35 High School, Xavier University and the University of New Orleans. He proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army where he received many awards. He was employed by the Orleans Parish School System for 54 years; he taught sixth grade for many years and retired as a guidance counselor with the Adult Education Program. He was a long time member of St. Leo the Great Parish, the Autocrat Social and Pleasure Club, the Old-Timers Baseball Club and the Louisiana Teachers Retirement Association. Parishioners of St. Raymond/St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, the Bridge Bunch Club, relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, 5621 Elysian Fields Avenue at 11:00 A.M. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:00 A.M., immediately followed by Visitation until 11:00 A.M. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue New Orleans, LA. The family is most appreciative of the support and care provided by Nanette and Annette with Bridge Hospice and his angels: Kay, Cynthia, Nicole, Shontall and Imani.
