Adele Lee Powell (affectionately known as "Madear" ) a resident of New Orleans, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at age 95. Adele graduated from McDonogh #35 Senior High School, and later married the late Sherman Powell, Sr. on October 30, 1946 in New Orleans, LA. Adele leaves to cherish her memory: son, Tyrone, Sr. (Fikirte); Sherman, Jr. (Michelle); Richard, Sr. (Michelle); Gregory (Monique); Daughter-in law, Miriam Powell and the late Joyce Powell. Twelve Grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Geneva Powell-Ruth; nephew Alvin Lee Sr.; great-nephew Alvin Lee, Jr.; great niece Shawn Baker-Verrett; Life-long family friend Patricia Mitchell, and a host other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117, Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation begins at 9:00 A.M. IN THE CHURCH. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Pastor Sam Young, Jr., Officiating.
