Obituary for Gladys Cornelia DeMyers (McGee)

Gladys Cornelia McGee DeMyers 93, transitioned from this life to life everlasting on Saturday, September 1, 2018 surrounded by her family, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God's promise helped her through her health challenges and ultimately gave her peace. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Will Anna McGee, her husband George DeMyers, and two brothers, Lamar McGee and William Roscoe McGee. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children: Gregory DeMyers (Juanita), Norman Ray DeMyers, Thealpha Von DeMyers-Harvey, Connie Renee DeMyers Jones; six grandchildren: Lionel Lewis Harvey, Jr., Steven Martin Harvey, Robert Lee Jones, III (Danielle), Pharaoh Lynn DeMyers (Shannon), Sabrina Rae DeMyers Garrison (Jimmy) and Reseda Marie DeMyers (Nicole); seven great-grandchildren: Lyric, Jade, Trae, Jaleah, Janae, Isaiah and Genesis; a loving and caring 99-year-old sister, Ora Lee McGee Booker; a 91-year-old loving brother, Nelson McGee; caring neighbors Josephine and Jeville Davis; a devoted friend of 55 years, Ruth Mack; two special friends, Katherine Brown and Lucy Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family, friends, Pastors, members of Payne Memorial and Union Bethel AME Churches, Staff of Louisiana Palliative Care and Hospice, Ochsner Clinic - Veterans, United States Postal Service (USPS) and LSU are invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Payne Memorial AME Church, 3306 S. Liberty St, New Orleans, LA. Visitation 6–7 PM. Pastor Troy Williams will officiate. Home Going Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM Greater Damascus Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. 1013 Damascus Circle, Hazlehurst, MS with visitation 9 – 11 AM. Pastor Troy Williams and Elder Clifton Goodloe, Jr. will officiate. Internment Greater Damascus Church of Christ Holiness Cemetery, Hazlehurst, MS.
