Obituary for Richard Williams

Richard Williams, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2018 at the home he shared with his wife in Humble, TX. Richard was born in New Orleans, La. on January 18,1927 to the late Richard Williams, Sr. and Ivory Murphy Williams. He was the youngest of three children. Richard graduated from McDonogh #35 High School and is a World War II veteran. He attended SUNO and was certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Rabouin School of Nursing. He worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital for 38 years. He was a member of Brooks United Methodist Church where he became chairman of the Administrative Board for eight years. He also sang in the church choir and the New Orleans Black Chorale. He was active in two Social and Pleasure Clubs, the Country Club Sports, and the Keep In Touch Club. He and his wife moved to Humble, TX to be close to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren after Hurricane Katrina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Camille W. King, and his brother, Harold Williams. He is survived by his devoted wife Camille Turnbull Williams, his daughters, Consuela W. Ferrier, Jennifer W. Foster, and Evangeline Williams, sons-in-laws, Ernest Ferrier and Clifford Foster, brothers-in law Alfred, Stanhope, and Gottlieb Turnbull, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all.
