Obituary for Carolyn Mackey

Carolyn Coleman Mackey departed this life on Thursday, December 24, 2020. She was born to the late Edward and Josephine Coleman on July 27, 1951. Mrs. Mackey, a retired domestic engineer, spent her life loving everyone and spoiling her grandchildren. She never met a stranger. She leaves behind to cherish precious memories her devoted husband, Willie Mackey, III; children, William Coleman, Stacy Henry (Gary), Emoni Dunn (Tyrone), Willie Mackey, IV (Jannelle) and Eugene Mackey; twenty grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Nolan Coleman, Jacquelyn Wilson, Anthony Coleman, Sr. (Johnnie Mae) and Walter Coleman; sisters-in-law, Ethel Mae Bennett, Gloria Mackey, Bertha Mackey and Adel Mackey Turner (Kenneth). Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mackey was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Albirtha "Bobee" Pryor; son, Carl Coleman and her beloved siblings, Edward Jr., Beatrice, Larry, Sylvia, and David. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Mrs. Carolyn Coleman-Mackey will be held at Pentecost Baptist Church, 1510 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11 a.m., Rev. Lionel Davis, Officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service will be limited to close family and friends. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Strictly enforced. Interment Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Metairie, LA. Visitation 10 a.m. in the church.
