Obituary for Dianne Blaise

Dianne "Paula" Theresa Blaise was born in New Orleans, LA on January 28, 1957, the beloved first born daughter of the late Homont (Herman) Smiles, Sr. and Muriel Theresa Chandler. She graduated from St. Bernard Consolidated High School (where she was a talented and proud majorette) and Delgado College. Upon graduation, Paula went on to work for Dr. Lucas DiLeo and Chalmette General Hospital. She was later employed by First National Bank for 17 years, then went on to work for Regions Bank. After leaving Regions Bank, Dianne was employed by St. Bernard Cultural Center and Basso America. She was currently employed at Volunteers of America as an executive assistant, where she had been for 10 years, impatiently awaiting her retirement. Everyone who knew Paula either loved or feared her bossy temperament. She loved her husband and children and loved her grandchildren even more. She was stern but loving to her family and friends. Although Dianne was a private person, she enjoyed being among family and friends. She enjoyed her work, cooking, laughing and joking. She and her husband loved to travel, whether it was to Mississippi on the weekends or to visit their children wherever they were in the world. Paula leaves to cherish precious memories, her beloved husband, Ronnie Blaise of forty-one years; adored children, Justin Smiles, Whitney Brooke Blaise-Cruz and Danielle Nicole Blaise-Braimbridge; sons in law, Manuel Cruz, Ricky Braimbridge and daughter in law, Akeisha Tircuit; cherished grandchildren, Thaddeus Blaise and Taviean Thomas; beloved siblings, Herman Smiles, Jr., Jaynell Colleen Smiles, Terry Ann Maurice and Barry Smiles; beloved step siblings, Roland Landry, Joseph Smiles, Sharon Brock, Thaddeus Williams, Merleen Williams, Peter Smiles, Tommy Green and John Smiles; beloved brothers and sisters in law, Michael Maurice, Sr., Herbert Major, Marie Lewis (Rodney), Mary Enclarde ( late Cornelius), Doreen Major ( late Roland ) and Michael Blaise; a host of adored nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Paula was also preceded in death by two siblings, Bruce Smiles and Georgette Smiles Major; her dear father and mother in law, Lawrence Blaise and Gladys Ceasar Blaise; brothers in law, Jamerson Blaise (Stephanie) and Rickey Blaise (Alfreda). Relatives and Friends; Pastor, Officers and members of Corrine Missionary Baptist Church are invited to attend the funeral. A Home going Celebration honoring the life of Dianne "Paula" Theresa Blaise will be held at Corrine Missionary Baptist Church, 5620 E. Judge Perez Drive, Violet, LA 70092 on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11 AM. Interment Merrick Cemetery. Visitation 9 AM in the church.
