On Sunday, January 3, 2021 Annette "Nettie" Nunez passed away surrounded by family members. She was born on December 19, 1958 in New Orleans, LA to the now late Marie Cousin Nunez and Cimion Nunez. The Earth was a better place to live if she was here. She had a passion for serving others and was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and niece. She was a devoted daughter who cared for her father and mother until their deaths. Although her body was as fragile as her crystal collection, she turned to her faith for strength. There was never a complaint throughout her illness. Her heart was touched by the cries of hungry children and she contributed to the Child Fund for several decades. She was active in her church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, as an altar server until her illness would no longer allow her. Annette is the beloved sister of Lolita Nunez Lewis. Also survived by one devoted niece, Tara Lewis Jackson and two devoted nephews, Otis Lewis, Jr. and Corey Lewis. In addition to her parents, "Nettie" was also preceded in death by five uncles and one aunt. Annette graduated from Xavier University Preparatory May 1976. Immediately following, she attended Delgado Community College. Most of her career was spent working for the City of New Orleans Departments of Safety and Permits, Council, Streets and Fire for thirty-six years. She retired from the Fire Department on January 7, 2017. Annette enjoyed traveling and was an avid Saints fan. In addition to her sister, niece and nephews, Nettie's memory will be reflected in the relatives and friends left behind including two aunts, Marion Hamilton and Melva Hebert; one uncle, Errol Hebert, Sr; brother-in law, Otis Lewis, Sr; a close cousin, Denise Carbo and numerous others. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Annette "Nettie" Nunez will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 6201 Stratford Place, New Orleans, LA 70131 on Tuesday, January 12 , 2021 at 11 AM, Father Pat Collum, Celebrant. Due to the covid-19 Pandemic, Everyone in attendance is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Gatherings are limited (No Exceptions). Strictly enforced. Interment St. Louis Cemetery # 3. Visitation 10 AM in the church.
