Gregory Jerome Hamilton, age 64, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, January 15, 2021, at his home in Harvey, LA with his loving wife by his side. Gregory was born on September 28, 1956 in New Orleans, LA. He attended West Jefferson High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Greg joined the City of New Orleans Police Department in 1994 and served as a homicide detective until his death. He was an avid sportsman and sports fan. He loved fishing, golfing and watching various sporting competitions. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Emile Hamilton, Sr; brother, Emile Hamilton, Jr., and sister, Julia Robinson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Meggs-Hamilton; mother, Mildred Hamilton; son, Eric Hamilton; daughter, Ginger Hamilton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Hamilton, Ivory Robinson, Katie Bowie, Dana Spencer, Daniel Spencer, Trena Muhammad, Lisa Spencer, Sadat Spencer, and a host of extended family and friends. A celebration of Greg's life, love and memories will be held at McDonogh 35 High School Auditorium, 4000 Cadillac Street, New Orleans, LA 70122 on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11 AM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70122. Visitation 9 AM in the auditorium.
