Sophia Germaine Wesco departed this life on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the age of 58. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam Howard, Sr. and Voncile Wesco; grandparents, Alex and Bessie Wesco, Richard and Lorena Howard; aunts, Mary Ella Veal and Zetella W. Jones; uncles, Leonard Wesco and Rev. Alex Wesco Jr. Sophia is survived by a devoted daughter, Germaine W. Thurmond (Edward), and granddaughter, Victoria Thurmond; siblings, Recondal Ward, Rachel Brimmer, (Dr. H. Chris), Richard Ward, Jr. (Sandra) , Shindana Ward, Keith Matthews (Deborah), Sam Howard, Jr.,(Darlene), Lisa Howard, Troy Howard, Sr. (Veronica), Paula Mitchell (Charles), Tyron Ash, Tocquyn Ash (Joe) and Samantha Singleton (Kenneth); loving aunts, Bernice Bonds- Riley, Alma W. Jackson (Percy) and Gwendolyn Wesco. She also leaves to cherish precious memories, her sister/cousins, Jenifer Arceneaux, Fredrika Trotter, Cheryl Bonds, Cassondra Davis-Burton, Yolanda Johnson, Benitta Wesco and Bridgette Bell; Godson, Brandon Trotter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family; Pastor, Officers and members of St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life of Sophia Germaine Wesco will be held at St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church, 1763 N. Derbigny Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10 am. Interment Providence Memorial Park. Visitation 8 am in the church.
