Sandra N. Houston, age 77 of Gonzales, Louisiana stood in presence of the Lord on February 09, 2021. She passed away from congestive heart failure at Inspired Living of Kenner in Kenner Louisiana at 8:30am. Sandra was born in New Roads, Louisiana on August 18, 1943 to John and Leona (George) Nelson Sr. She was married to John William Houston of New Roads, Louisiana for 49 years. She received her education in Lafayette at Holy Rosary Elementary and High School. Shewent on to get a BS degree in Education from University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL/ULL) in Lafayette, Louisiana. Sandra worked as a schoolteacher for the New Orleans School Board for over 30 years and made a multitude of friends along the way. Ultimately, she retired as a 4thgrade teacher at Sherwood Forest Elementary. Sandra is survived by her 3 adoring children,Thaddeus (Kelly) Drexel Houston, Kimberly Houston Francis and Holly Maria Houston. Shenow watches over her seven magnificent grandchildren: Kassidy, Kamille, Kalani, Kyra and Kai Houston and Adam and Eden Francis. She leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her husband, John W. Houston her parents, John J. Nelson Sr. and Leona Nelson, her brothers, John J. Nelson Jr. (Bruce), James Rickey Nelson, and Thomas Rodney Nelson Sr. precedes her in death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 411 North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA, at 10 AM. Visitation begins at 10 AM. Sandra will be laid to eternal rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Mayer Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana.
