Obituary for Diane Crutchfield

Diane Marie Gullette Crutchfield, affectionately known as "Diva Dee", suddenly entered into her heavenly resting place on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the age of 74. She was the third of eleven children born to the late Delores and Richard Gullette Jr. Diane was a 1965 graduate of George Washington Carver Senior High School in New Orleans, LA. She was very well known for her active role on the Carver "Ram Jam" Alumni Committee. She was employed at Tulane University for many years and was loved by faculty, staff and students for her jovial spirit and ability to make everyone laugh. Words cannot express the love, laughter and kindness she brought to everyone who knew her. Diane's amazingly delicious soul food cooking from her "Soul Purpose Diner" in Gentilly will be missed. She captivated the community and dignitaries from all over with her soul food and her joyful spirit that made them feel like family. Diane was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, the late Wade Crutchfield, Jr. and to this union, the blessing of four children was bestowed upon them, Wade Crutchfield, III (Ronda) and Cleavon Cruthchfield (Njeri),the late Demetria Crutchfield Seitz and Kimberly Crutchfield. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; devoted companion, Otis Wright; seven siblings, Cynthia Banks, Gloria Garrison, Sandra Thomas, Patricia Cook, Shelia Gullette, Yolanda Smith (John), Reginald Gullette, Sr; sisters-in-law, Iris Gullette and Betsy Mae Crutchfield Minor (Harrison); two brothers-in-law, Johnny Crutchfield and James Crutchfield (Lucille) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special "Thank you" to Dr. Stacy Sigendorf and staff at Ochsner Hospital. A drive-through viewing will be held at Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 3 pm until 5 pm. Please remain in your vehicles. Relatives and friends; Pastor, Officers and members of Beacon Light International Cathedral and all neighboring churches; Alumni, Staff and students of George Washington Carver Senior High School, the Class of 1965 and Tulane University; Staff and Patrons of Palms Barber Shop & Hair Salon, Central Home Health, LLC, Divas Hairbox and Soul Purpose Diner are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration of Life honoring Mrs. Diane Gullette Crutchfield will be held at Beacon Light International Cathedral, 1937 Mirabeau Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122 on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10 am, Bishop Darryl Brister, Officiating. Interment Restlawn Park, Avondale, LA. Visitation 8 am in the cathedral.
