On Thursday, March 11, 2021 Len Evans Sr., entered into peaceful and eternal rest at the age of 84. "Papa" as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, was born on July 16, 1936 in St. Joseph, LA to the late Mrs. Josephine Roach Washington and Mr. Edward Evans Sr. Through the guidance of his parents and Baptist upbringing, Len accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He attended St. Joseph High school and immediately moved to New Orleans where he would soon call home. As a teenager, he met and fell in love with Claudia Moore Evans and was a loyal husband for over 65 years. To this union three children were born, Len, Jr., Glynn, Sr. and the late Josephine. As a very young man, Len learned to work hard and was dedicated to everything he did. He retired from Loyola University after 55 dedicated years of service. Outside of work, Len could be found perfecting his lawn, watching Family Feud or rooting for the Pelicans. He was a member and a proud Deacon of Law Street Baptist Church. Len was a very outgoing, friendly person, who loved to make others smile. "Papa" made the best pancakes and chicken salad in the 9th ward. He was a supportive husband, loving father and dedicated grandfather, who will truly be missed. In addition to his beloved parents and daughter, Len was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dave Evans and Edward Evans, Jr. Left to cherish precious memories are his devoted wife of 65 years, Claudia Evans; sons, Len Evans, Jr. and Glynn Evans, Sr; sisters, Ava Lee Collins, Rosie Lee Giles and Josephine Thompson; grandchildren, Danielle, Raymond, Amanda, Bridget and Glynn; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
