Calvin Joseph Collins, age 92, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. A native of Erwinville, LA, he was a resident of New Orleans, LA for most of his life. Calvin served three years in the United States Army and enjoyed a wonderful life of carpentry, fishing and hunting. Very talented and creative, Calvin built both homes and his fishing boat. He leaves to mourn his passing his son, David, Sr. and daughter in law, Gaynell Parker Collins; three grandchildren, David Collins, Jr., Lyndsay Collins Bernal and Jeannemarie Collins; six great grandchildren, three brothers in law, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne Tucker Collins; children, Joy Ann Collins and Calvin "Kippy" Collins, Jr; parents, Joseph McClain Collins and Eunice Lorita Domangue Collins; beloved sisters, Hilda Collins Braud and Ruby Collins Roussell formerly of Southern CA, grandfather, Harry Collins and one brother in law. Relatives and friends; Priest and Parishioners of St James Major Catholic and other neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Mr. Calvin J. Collins will be held at St. James Major Catholic Church, 3736 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11 AM. Interment private. Visitation 9 30 am in the church.
