Terry Steve Gibson, Jr. was born on September 30, 1991 and left his earthly body on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He is survived by his parents, Alonda and Terry S. Gibson, Sr; sisters, Charisse Gibson, Terah Gibson and Ariel Forthner. Proud uncle of Stephan Hummons, Jr. Grandson of Cora and John Keith; the late Leona and Oscar Gibson. Nephew of Christopher Keith. Thanks to his close friends in the New Orleans brass band community who loved Terry, Jr. very much and held him close to their musical hearts as they were also his brothers and sisters. Terry was an authentic representation of the spirit and legacy of Louis Armstrong, some would call him Armstrong reincarnated. So much so that in 2010 he won the first ""Seeking Satch"" award, a competition meant to keep the legend of New Orleans icon Louis Armstrong alive, winning the hearts of his audiences in Europe and at home, his charm becoming the indelible trademark of his trumpet career. He was joyful, resilient and ubiquitous and his musical presence will forever be felt on the streets of New Orleans and around the world. Terry, Jr. was a graduate of Warren Easton Senior High School and briefly attended UNO for Jazz Studies. A Homegoing Celebration honoring the Life of Mr. Terry S. Gibson, Jr. will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Historic Treme', 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 10 am followed by a second line. A private interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 9 am in the chapel.
