Fredrick "Duck" Alton Bernard passed to eternal rest on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born on September 14,1940 to the late Rev. Arthur Peter Bernard, Sr. and Caldonia Turner Bernard. Beloved husband of the late Olivia P. Coleman-Bernard. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Bernard was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur P. Bernard, Jr., Harry Bernard, Sr. and Edward Bernard, Sr.; Son, Fredrick; Brother in law, Leonard J. Morris, Sr.; Sisters in law, Leola, Irene, and Dianne Bernard. He leaves to cherish precious memories, daughters, Mikeaba Theard and Angel Bazley; sons, Kirk Bernard (Rosemary Lewis) and Levour Jiles (Charo); Stepsons, Alvin, Warren, Michael and Cosey Coleman; sisters, Bernadine Bernard Morris of New Orleans, and Evelyn Bernard Cully (Junius) of Los Angeles, CA; sisters in law, Consuella Stevenson and Patricia Palmer Isaac; brothers in law, Sgt. Lionel Palmer and Dwayne Palmer; Godsons, Fredrick Riley and Edward Stevenson; eight grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration of Life Service honoring Mr. Frederick Alton "Duck" Bernard will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Friday , May 7, 2021 at 1 PM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122. Visitation 12 noon in the chapel.
