Shirley Ruth Carter Fauria was born on September 23, 1947 in New Orleans, LA to the late Alfreda McCormick Dixon and Grady Dixon. She was a kind and caring Lady who gave her best to all. She always said no matter what life offers you, always keep it "Sexy Sassy!" Ladies always sip from a straw, never a can. She was a successful entrepreneur and a leading expert for NASA missions as part of the team behind the astronauts and was also one of the leading women in the Department of Customs and Border Office. Shirley was fun loving and enjoyed life and was devoted to her family and community. She was a Christian and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Shirley ascended to her heavenly father's Throne on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the age of 73. In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett Carter and her second husband, Roy Fauria; brothers, Reverend Gerald and Arthur Dixon. Shirley is survived by her only son, Patrick Chevelle Carter and his wife, Nakia Carter; grandchildren, Aaron and Daron Carter; great-granddaughter, D'Zai Carter and eldest sister, Myrnell Thomas. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Mrs. Shirley Ruth Carter Fauria will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1835 St. Roch Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117 on Friday June 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. Interment Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery. Visitation 10 a.m. in the church.
