Obituary for Marguerite DeSilva

Marguerite Farve Zeno DeSilva peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 96. She was born in New Orleans, LA on March 7, 1925 in the 7 th Ward to the late Bernard and Mary Desvignes Farve and later in life moved to the Lower 9 th Ward to raise her family. In 2005 she relocated to Spring, TX, due to the destruction of her home during Hurricane Katrina. She remained there for the past 16 years before returning to Louisiana after falling ill. Mrs. DeSilva is survived by her daughters, Marguerite Zeno Garnett, Elaine DeSilva Jones (Henry Sr.) and Carol DeSilva, Spring, TX and son in law, Sylvester Browder. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Darrin and Andrea Browder, Cindy Jones McGinnis (Kendall), Atlanta, GA., Henry Jones, Jr. (Emma), Melanie Garnett White (Shaun), Larry Garnett, Jr. (Gloria) and Natasha Patton Washington (Gabriel, Sr.), Spring, TX.; eight great grandchildren Keenen and Kameron McGinnis, Atlanta, GA., Gabriel, Jr. and Gavin Washington, Spring, TX., Tyren and Marques Jones, David and Ryan Garnett. In addition to her parents, Mrs DeSilva was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred DeSilva; daughter, Jeannette Zeno Browder; brother, Morris Farve (Mary Elvira); sister, Veronica Farve Pichon (Patrick, Sr.); son in law, Larry Garnett Sr. and her first husband, Edgar Zeno. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Acadian Ambulance for providing a safe and smooth transport from Texas to Louisiana of our loved one; Memorial Herman Hospital and Memorial Herman Home Care Hospice of The Woodlands, TX, along with Life Source Hospice of Baton Rouge, LA for all the support, care and services provided during our time of need. The family graciously thanks you for everything. Relatives and friends; Priest and Parishioners of St. David Catholic Church are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of the late Mrs. Marguerite Farve Zeno DeSilva will be held at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117, on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 AM. Interment Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70003. Visitation 9 am in the church.
