Lily G. Kimble, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and life-long resident of New Orleans, LA was called home on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the young age of 80. She passed away peacefully at her home with family members in attendance. Lily is survived by her husband of over 61 ½ years, Joseph Kimble, Jr; her mother, Hattie Garner; five children, Karen, Charlotte, Joseph, III, Reginald, Sr. and Sean; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, mother, children grand and great grandchildren, she also leaves to cherish precious memories, sisters, Ethel, Barbara, Janice and Cynthia, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. Lily was born in Osaka, MS on March 5, 1941 to Hattie and the late John Garner. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1958 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business at Southern University at New Orleans in 1999. She worked at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Bookstore and was a devoted member of the church. Lily worked many years for Southern Baptist Hospital on Napoleon Avenue as a unit secretary in the E.R. and Observation departments. Her greatest ministry was working in the bookstore at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church where she mentored, prayed for and helped so many individuals. She enjoyed exercising, church events and most of all helping others. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. A Celebration Service honoring the life of Mrs. Lily G. Kimble will be held at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 East I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10 AM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 9 AM in the church. The celebration will be live streamed on the church's website, Facebook, Youtube.com and FABCNOLA.
