Rev. Joseph Matfeldt Doyle, S.S.J., passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Rev. Doyle was born on Nov. 18, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to the late Kathryn Kricker Doyle and Joseph M. Doyle. Loving brother of Mary Ellen Lynch Coyle, Nancy Reitz, Kathryn Baxter and the late Patricia Anne Hallman. Father Joe was ordained to the priesthood for the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (The Josephites) on June 1, 1968. He served as a man for others in the States of Maryland, Texas, Washington, D.C., Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Rev. Joseph Matfeldt Doyle, S.S.J., will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 10 AM. Interment St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery. A Visitation will be observed from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, Father Joe asked that donations be made to his beloved St. Augustine High School, 2600 A. P.
