Obituary for Lois Nelson-Andrews

Lois Mary Nelson-Andrews entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the age of 69, surrounded by her family. Lois was born on August 8, 1952 to Dorothy and the late Jessie “Ooh Poo Pah Doo” Hill. She accepted Christ at the young age of 8. Lois is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Andrews, Jr; sons, James “12” Andrews, III (Karen), Bruce Nelson, Terry Nelson, Temeca Andrews, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, and Deja Andrews; siblings, Lionel, Linda, and Sandra Nelson; Cynthia, Jessie Lee, Eric and Dionne Hill, Dorothy Hill-Martin (Larry) and Judy Hill-Andrews (Darryl). Also survived by ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Andrews is also preceded in death by a son, Darnell “Dboy” Andrews; two brothers, Louis “Fritz” Nelson and Terry Hill. The Andrews, Nelson and Hill Family invites everyone, including Money Wasters Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Dumaine Street Gang Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Tremé Sidewalk Steppers and all social aide, pleasure clubs and brass bands; past and present employees of Place D’Armes and Hampton Inn Hotels to attend the funeral. A Celebration Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Lois Mary Nelson-Andrews will be held at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of Performing Arts, 1419 Basin Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 0n Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10 AM, Rev. Ronnie London, Officiating. A TRADITIONAL JAZZ FUNERAL procession will follow. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation 8 AM IN THE THEATER. The public is also invited to attend a visitation which will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 3 PM until 6 PM. Immediately following the visitation, a musical tribute will take place with entry allowed by invitation only. At the family s request, Please send all floral arrangements directly to the Mahalia Jackson Theater. Attendees at both services are required to comply with all applicable Covid 19 mask and social distancing mandates. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test required for public event.
