Obituary for Mary Ducksworth

Mary "Cat" Ducksworth, 78, of New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at home. A Funeral Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Mary "Cat" Ducksworth will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10 a.m. Interment Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Dr., Metairie LA. Visitation 9 a.m. in the chapel. A repass will follow after the interment at Charbonnet Labat Glapion, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116. Attendees are required to comply with all applicable COVID-19 mask and social distancing mandates. Mrs. Ducksworth was born on October 7, 1943 in Adams County, Natchez, MS to Onita Oliver. She retired from Lockheed Martin Marietta where she worked as a chemical plater on the Space Shuttle. She served as a foster parent for 15 years with the State of Louisiana's Foster Care Program. Mrs. Ducksworth was preceded in death by both of her parents, husband, Samual Ducksworth, ex-husband, William Pierce, Sr., and granddaughter, Jasmine Pierce. She is survived by five children, Kevin Pierce, Sr. (Lisa) and William Pierce, Jr. (Georgia) both of Mississippi, Donna Pierce-Jackson (William) of New Orleans, James Pierce, Sr. (Kim) of Texas and Patrick Pierce (Lethia); Goddaughter, Evelyn Washington-Wallace; grandchildren, great-grandchild; sister, Diane Oliver of Harvey LA, brothers, LeRoy Oliver of Slidell, LA and Roger Watkin of Pennsylvania. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
