Dorothy Mae "Mamie" Nelson Hill was born on December 27, 1929 to the late Edna Nelson and Walter Nelson, Sr. Wife of the late Jessie "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" Hill. Dorothy received Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age when she joined Christian Mission Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish precious memories, two sisters, Ethel Nelson and Miriam Hawkins. Benevolent mother of 12, Lionel, Linda and Sandra Nelson; Cynthia, Jessie Lee, Eric, Dionne Hill; Dorothy Hill-Martin (Larry) and Judy Hill-Andrews; the late Louis Fritz Nelson, Terry Hill, and Lois Nelson Andrews (James). Beloved Grandmother of thirty four grandchildren, fifty nine great grandchildren and twenty five great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Celebration Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Dorothy Mae "Mamie" Nelson Hill will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10 AM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 9 am in the chapel. A wake service will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5 PM until 8 PM.
