Obituary for Octavia Robinson

Octavia Green Robinson was born on March 19, 1947 in New Orleans, LA to Myrtle August Green and Oliver Daniel Green, Sr. Affectionately known to all as "Tay" and "Big Momma" she transitioned on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the age of 74 surrounded by her family, just as she would have wanted. Octavia grew up in the 7th Ward of New Orleans and is a graduate of J.S. Clark Senior High School, Dillard University and Tulane School of Social Work where she received her Master's Degree. Octavia was a decorated Sergeant with the City of New Orleans Police Department (N.O.P.D.) where in her early years, was part of the all women team who created Community Relations which became refuge and hope for the people of New Orleans. Moving through the ranks of departments such as Juvenile Division and others, she retired after 45 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Robinson was a proud member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the First District Baptist Association. She leaves her love in the hands of her beloved husband of 47 years, Edward J. Robinson, Sr; daughters, Nicole Robinson (Jafar) and Edris Robinson-Dupard (Joseph), Kimberly Robinson and Eddie Robinson, Jr. Also survived by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, other relatives and friends. Octavia's legacy will forever be "No One Left Behind", as she was all about family. She took in and cared for many around the world and her love and caring ways for all will forever live on. A Homegoing Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Octavia Green Robinson will be held at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L.B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10 AM. Interment Lakelawn Metairie Park Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation 8: 30 AM IN THE CHURCH.
