Gwendolyn Marie Green, a native of New Orleans, LA, was born July 14, 1942 to the late Eugene and Dorothy Spears Green. She departed this life on Sunday, March 20, 2022. Gwendolyn was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she served as Church Council Chair and was active in all aspects of ministry. She taught in the Orleans Parish School System for 35 years. In addition to her parents, Ms Green was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Lloyd Green and Cornell Green. Survivors include a sister, Betty G. Angelo; sister-in-law, Evelyn Green; nieces, Gina Angelo, Troymaine Sanders, Phyllis Roach, Marchella Hall and Paris Green; nephews, Patrick Angelo, James Green, Derrence Green, as well as a host of other family members and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, Pastor, officers and members of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, ECHO, faculty of Thomy Lafon Elementary School and Dillard University Alumni are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Ms. Gwendolyn Marie Green will be held at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 2700 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115 on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10 a.m., Rev. Ronald J. Southhall, officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
