Julia Mae Simmons Ellis-Turner departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born on February 14, 1935 to the late Charles and Ethel Jones Simmons. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 32 years, Ernest Turner. Sister of Ethel Louise Wilson, the late Charles Eugene Simmons, John Edwin Simmons and Catherine Ducre. She will be forever remembered and cherished by her surviving seven children, Joyce J. Carter, Vincent Carter, Mark Simmons, Jeffery Simmons, Angelina L. Carter, Schirra Simmons, and Tonya Smoot; fourteen grandchildren, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Julia Mae Simmons Ellis-Turner will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Peters St., New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 9:30 a.m., Pastor Dale Jay Sanders, Sr., officiating. Interment: Resthaven Memorial Park, New Orleans, LA. Visitation 8:30 a.m. in the chapel.
