On Saturday, April 23, 2022, God called one of His angels home. Mrs. Maureen "Beany" Brown departed this life surrounded by her family and friends. Devoted wife of Dwayne Brown. Loving mother of three sons, the late Leslie Berry, Marrious Berry (Shana) and Travis Berry (Heather). Sister of Cornela Harvey and the late Lisa H. Bell (Murphy). Grandmother of nine, Alexis Smith, Saniyah Tedford, Kia Berry, Alecia Berry, Shane Berry, Travis Berry Jr., Taraji Berry, Trevon Berry and Tahjir Berry. Also survived by two great-grandchildren, ArMoni Sparks and Aiden Wilson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Maureen was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. She was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan who graduated from O. Perry Walker High School. She came to know the Lord at an early age and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church. Later on in life she joined the Second Baptist Church and Living Witness C.O.G.I.C. She was employed by Stonebridge Convalescent Home, Holy Cross College, Woodland Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Superdome at various times. Maureen later retired from East Jefferson General Hospital. Relatives and friends, churches, staff and employees of the above, as well as Veolia, Flowers Bakery Company and Aaron's Sales and Lease are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late celebrate the life of Mrs. Maureen "Beany" Brown at Thompson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1515 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70053 at 10 a.m., Supt.
