Obituary for Mildred Neustadter Matthews

Mildred Neustadter Matthews entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the age of 95. A native of Saint Francisville, LA, and resident of New Orleans, LA for 77 years. She is survived by her beloved children, Frances (Joseph) Rhyans, Larry Charles and Frederick Willis Matthews; one sister, Ledora Neustadter Parker; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; devoted friend, Gwen Baham, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Matthews is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Matthews; parents Walter Len and Kate Overstreet Neustadter; four brothers, Walter, Jr., Samuel, Charles and Max Neustadter; two sisters, Lillian Signal and Genevieve Ann Neustadter. Relatives and friends of the family; Pastors, Officers and members of Greater Ebenezer, New Hope, Mount Herman and Second Mount Olive Baptist Churches are invited to attend the funeral. A Homegoing Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Mildred Neustadter Matthews will be held at The Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2100 Saint Roch Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11 am, Rev. Corey A. Cooper, Officiating. Visitation 10 am in the church. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
