CATHY WATSON OBITUARY
On Saturday, May 28, 2022, God gracefully opened his arms and welcomed Cathy Ann Watson to her heavenly home. Cathy was born on August 29, 1980 to Diane East Watson and Eugene Jones. She was a graduate of West Jefferson High School Class of 1998. Cathy was a loving mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, as well as a wonderful and hardworking employee of Dempsey's and L'auberge Casino. She always displayed a beautiful smile and tremendous love for everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. In addition to her parents, Cathy also leaves to cherish her memory, former spouse, Keywine Gibson; son, Dervis Keonte Watson (Derrick Bernard); daughters, Destiny Kierra Watson (Derrick Weatherspoon) and Dynasty Khia Watson (Keywine Gibson); grandchild, Jakobie Jermaine Bennett; siblings, Henry Watson, Byron Jones, Stephen Hampton, and Krista Jones-Gales; sister in law, Shineder (Shine) Watson; nephews, Nasir Watson, Demontre (Tre) Simmons and Anthony Griffin, Jr; niece, Arianna (ReeRee) Jones; Godchildren, Skye Girod and Janiya Morris; aunts and uncles, Doris East George, Dora Mae East Jackson, Tyler Sr. and Paul East; close friends, Tekelia Nicholas, Jacquelyn Scott, Mandisha Livas and Nadine Robertson, as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Cathy was preceded in death by cousins, Paul Jackson, Orlando East, Heather East and Angela Johnson; aunts, Estelle Dora East Johnson and Gloria East; uncles, Willie Wright and Charles East, Sr; grandmother, Mary Wright East; great-grandparents, Nelson East, Sr. and Estelle Louis East, Otha Cockerham and Hildora Minor Wright Cockerham; great aunt, Marie Wright and great-great-grandmother, Rosemary Minor Green. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Cathy Ann Watson will be held at New Macedonia Baptist Church, 8308 Sheldon Street, Metairie, LA 70003 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10 am, Bishop Percy McCray, officiating. For the health and safety of all, everyone in attendance is asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Visitation 9 am in the church.
