BRIDGETTE SALOMON OBITUARY
Bridgette Catherine Walker Salomon, affectionately known as 'Pinky,' received her wings on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the age of 61. She was the third of six children born on February 16, 1961 to the union of Raymond JB Walker, Sr. and Mildred Sam Walker in New Orleans, LA. She was blessed to give life to her sons, Joseph and Jaz Donaldson. Bridgette attended Francis T. Nicholls High School and went on to attend Jerome's School Of Cosmetology, where she became a licensed cosmetologist. Bridgette was a beautician for over 40 years. She worked at the House of Joy Beauty Salon on North Claiborne Avenue for 12-plus years. There she walked into her purpose of beautifying clients from all over the New Orleans area and beyond. Through this special gift, Bridgette was able to turn clients into extended beloved family. In 2018 she married the love of her life, Roy 'Bongo Man' Salomon, Jr., whom she had known for years. A devout Christian, she and her husband attended Mass every chance they could. Bridgette loved to travel and in the last five years she and Roy traveled to every place that she wanted to visit. Her absolute favorite way to travel was aboard a cruise ship. Next to traveling she loved to cook. She was a fantastic Creole cook but even though she was an incredible cook, she loved to dine out. She went to different restaurants and enjoyed dishes that she had never tasted. If she liked the dish she would come home and cook her version of it. Bridgette also enjoyed live music, especially when her husband performed. She would attend almost all of his gigs. Everyone who knew Bridgette can testify how much she loved her fur baby, Bella Salomon. Bridgette enjoyed living life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Roy Salomon, Jr; mother, Mildred W. Keller; sons, Joseph A. Donaldson (Tuesday) and Jaz J. Donaldson (Yareli); grandchildren, Kyla, Taj, Joseph, III and Tahlyn Donaldson; siblings, Raymond Walker, Jr., Sherri W. Dykes (Darrell), Brian Vaughn, Carolyn K. Chapital (EJ) and Marcia R. Keller; mother-in law, Mary Clyde Reyes and father-in law, Roy Salomon, Sr.; fur baby, Bella Salomon, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond JB Walker Sr., and stepfather, Marshall W. Keller. The family would like to invite all New Orleans musicians and they thank the staff at University Medical Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Roatan and all who prayed for Bridgette. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Bridgette C. "Pinky" Walker Salomon will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church/International Shrine of St. Jude, 411 N. Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 10 am. Interment Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation 9 am in the church.
