BARBARA GEORGE OBITUARY
Barbara Antoinette George, age 75, a native New Orleanian, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Daughter of the late Henry Sawyer the Honorable Dorothy Mae Dorsey Berthey. Barbara was joined in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie George, Jr. Loving mother of Renard Lotts, Sr. (Sharla), Royal Adams Lotts, Jr. and Henry Anthony Lotts, Sr. Stepmother of Christopher George, Lila George, Josh George, Clarice Landry, Theresa Broussard, Fenwick Ashley, Earl Joseph, Samara Rose Moore and Delfeayo Desmond Thompson, the late Saieedah Williams and Christine Vallian. Sister of Larry Smith, Sr., (Lynette), Faith Berthey, Otis Berthey, Jr. and Henrietta Doptimore, Rosetta Ramsey, Anna Berthey, Ernest Smith, Sr., and Dan Berthey. From 1986, Barbara worked for the Koerner family and served many roles. She was instrumental in raising children, grandchildren and overseeing countless projects in the family home, to include renovations and catered gatherings. From the very beginning of her illness, The Koerner family was very instrumental in securing the best possible medical care. Barbara was full of life and an avid cook. She loved to host the family for major holidays, preparing massive meals and later specialized in cake baking and pastries. She often catered events for clients she acquired working Saints football games. Barbara leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, husband, sons, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, In-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins; daughter by marriage, Deborah Alexander, life-long friend Gwynn Gaines and long-time friend and neighbor, Alma Varnado, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. A Funeral service honoring the life and legacy of the late Barbara Antoinette George will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet-Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans LA 70116 on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10 am, Pastor George Green, Jr. Officiating. Interment Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell LA 70460. Visitation 9 am in the chapel.
