JOYCE MURRAY OBITUARY
Joyce Lavigne Murray, age 90 was born on May 20, 1932 to the late Alfred Lavigne Sr. and Edna Lavigne in New Orleans, LA. Joyce peacefully departed this life on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Trinity Hospital near Tampa, FL. In addition to her parents, Joyce was also preceded in death by her husband Winston Murray; ex-husband, John Anderson, Jr; sons, John Anderson, III and Kevin Anderson; sister, Geraldine Lavigne; brothers, Alfred Lavigne, Jr., Flornard Lavigne and Nathaniel Lavigne; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae Lavigne. Mrs. Murray attended St. Peter Claver School and graduated from Xavier Preparatory High School. She was also a longtime employee of St. Peter Claver Catholic School. Joyce maintained a strong Christian faith throughout her life and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church for many years. After Hurricane Katrina, Joyce relocated to Atlanta, GA where she became a member at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Atlanta. She loved God, loved church and led a life practicing her faith. Joyce was a strong independent determined woman and will be remembered for enjoying life and giving to others. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her children, Terance Anderson, Lance (Lynn) Anderson, Kermith (Cynthia) Anderson, Rhonda Anderson, Debra Anderson (Anthony) Goins; brother, Tyrone (Gail) Lavigne; grandchildren, Terese (Brad) Brooks, Ajani Anderson, Khadija Anderson, Erica Anderson, Foley Parker Jr (aka Buddy), Miguel Anderson, Rashada Anderson, Rhondell Anderson, John Anderson, IV, Janae Anderson, Jela Anderson, Kierra Anderson (Harry) Douglas, Ariel Anderson (Jordan) Sullen and Nicholas Goins. Also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Joyce Lavigne Murray will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10 am. Interment St. Louis No. 2. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to Covid 19, for the health and safety of all, everyone in attendance is asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
