PEARL DUPART OBITUARY
Mrs. Pearl Cordier Dupart gained her eternal wings to join her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the age of 93. Mrs. Dupart was born to the late James, Sr. and Alice Olivier Cordier on May 9, 1929 in New Orleans, LA. She was reared by her Godmother and aunt Edna Cordier, who left a huge imprint of service to others on her life. Pearl attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Academy. Over her lifetime, she was employed by the Circle Food Store, St. Mark's Community Center, TCA and the St. Peter Claver Church office. Pearl lived a life of service to others. Although she was not college educated, she earned a Ph.D. in God's work in taking care of the least of God's children. She was at the forefront of many initiatives for the youth of Treme and St. Peter Claver, as well as the senior citizens. She had three biological children, but she mothered "Mama Pearl" to so many young people in her community. Her work was a legacy of loveā¦Mentor, Save-A-Youth, Treme Organization of Young Adults (T.O.Y.A.), Social Action, Advocacy, Crime Fighter, Night Out Against Crime Point Person, Social Ministry Services, Youth Coordinator, Parade Captain, Permits Liaison, HDLC Board Member, Relationship Builder, Promoter of Home Ownership, Parish/ Community Seamstress and so much more. Pearl's pride and joy was her three sons, Lionel Peter (Tracey), Robert Paul (Gina) and the late Morel Joseph Dupart. She adored her grandchildren, Arianne, Casey, Jarred and Corey Dupart and one great granddaughter, Kaelynn Worley. Former wife of Lionel Joseph Dupart. Pearl also leaves to cherish her memory, siblings, Aileen (the late Milton) Vidal, Marie (Albert) Picou, Leon (Jeanne Larks) Cordier, Sr. and Alice (Milton) Ward. In addition to her parents, Godmother and son, Mrs. Dupart is also preceded in death by siblings, James (Evelyn) Cordier, Jr., Ronald (Joan) Cordier, Sr., Louis Cordier and Jeanette (Gary) Lucineo. She is loved and will be sorely missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and cherished friends, including Dorothy "Dottie" Alexander, Mrs. Mercedes Lewis and Mary Patin to name a few, neighbors and her St. Peter Claver family. Relatives and friends; Priest and Parishioners of St. Peter Claver Catholic and other neighboring churches; Employees of Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta New Orleans Branch, Frito Lay New Orleans Zone, The Willow School of New Orleans and the local community; members of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Edmundites and Josephite Priest; Sisters of the Holy Family and Blessed Sacrament, as well as the many organizations she belonged to; Staff and alumni of St. Mary's Academy Class of 1948 are all invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Pearl Cordier Dupart will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 0n Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11 am, Rev. Ajani K. Gibson, Celebrant. Interment St. Louis #3 Cemetery, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA. Visitation 9 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in honor of Mrs. Dupart to the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry. Due to Covid-19, face masks and social distancing are encouraged.
