TERRENCE SLACK OBITUARY
ASon is a beautiful reflection of God's Good Grace. Terrence Charles Slack received his heavenly wings on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the age of 57. Also affectionately known as "Terry" or "Slack", Terrence was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Harvey, LA. He was a graduate of John McDonogh High School in New Orleans, LA and was a member of their football team. He also attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and a member of their track team. Mr. Slack, a United States Army Veteran, served as a Combat Engineer from 1988 thru 1992 with the 87th Engineer Co. He began his tour of duty in basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During his tour of duty, Terrence received the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Rifle M-16 (Sharpshooter), Qualification Badge, Hand Grenade (Sharpshooter) Qualification Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Driver Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Opposing Forces Academy. He also served in Panama, Paraguay and Costa Rico and his last duty station was with the 87th Engineer Co at Fort Irwin, CA. He received an Honorable Discharge (A) on September 30, 1992. Mr. Slack was preceded in death by his father, Robin (Bobby) Slack; maternal grandparents, Moses and Ruth Green Cobbs; paternal grandparents, Mart and Leona Slack. Terry leaves to cherish precious memories his devoted mother, Brenda Cobbs Slack; sons, Terrence, Jr. (Ayanda), Darien, Ian Slack and D'ario Gutierrez; grandchildren, Ndiphiwe Sokhela and Terrence C. Slack, III; devoted friend, Karen Stanley; brothers, Andre (Angela), Rodney, Robin, (Samantha) Jr. and Brian Slack; sisters, Lucille Slack Bienemy (Gerard) Gail and Antonette Slack. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. All are invited to attend a Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. Terrence Charles Slack at Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1701 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11 am. A Repast will follow at The Eventistry Venue, 2800 Higgins Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70126. Interment with military honors will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell, LA on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11 am.
