ERNEST PETTIGREW OBITUARY
Mr. Ernest Patrick Pettigrew, age 78, was born on June 5, 1944 to Curtis, Sr. and Evelyn White Pettigrew. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2022 with his family at his side. Mr. Pettigrew is the loving husband of Mary Elise Allen Pettigrew of Port Arthur, TX for 54 years; Exceptional father of Tyra Pettigrew Watty and Immaculata Pettigrew; father-in-love of Ronald Watty; the best PawPaw of Ron, Jr., Jazmin, Matthew, Marc, Ashleigh, Isaac and Karar; brother of Curtis, Jr. (Georgian) and the late Barbara Wilson; brother-in-love of Chester Allen, Jr. (Valerie), Sylvia Gardner (the late Larry) and Jennifer Sanders (Kevin). He is also treasured by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Ernest accepted Jesus and was baptized at an early age. He was proud to be part of the L.B. Landry High Schools Class of '62 and an alumni of Southern University. He was a realtor and school teacher (retired) in Jefferson Parish and Santa to many. Mr. Pettigrew joyfully served his wife and family, the body of Christ and was an active member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. A Memorial Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. Ernest Patrick Pettigrew will be held at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1738 L.B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1 pm. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are encouraged.
