FLORENCE MCKENZIE OBITUARY
Florence McKenzie entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 85. After graduating from Joseph S. Clark High School, she pursued a career with Charity Hospital and retired as a Medical Supply Supervisor. She leaves to cherish precious memories, daughters, Carlas Farrell Rayford and Lynette McKenzie; grandchildren, Michael Francois, III, Charmaine Freeman, Monique Farrell, Ashley Joseph, Richard Farrell, Jr., Carissa Rayford and Scott Rayford Jr. (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Bryan Nelson, Jr., Bryson Nelson, John Dume, Jr., Richard Farrell, III, Kenley Washington, Matthieu Person, Cayleigh Rayford, Connor Nelson and Jaxon Rayford; siblings, Dr. Vera, Elizabeth and Anthony Speed. Mrs. McKenzie is preceded in death by her husband, Millous McKenzie; mother, Rosie Lee Newton; father, Walter Speed Sr.; stepfather, Roosevelt Newton; son, Richard Farrell, Sr.; siblings, Walter, Jr., Robert, Henry and Edward Newton, Sr., Emma Monroe, Sadie Henry and Florence Hughes; Godchild, Nataki Phelps. All are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Florence McKenzie will be held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 3320 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 70126 on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10 am. Interment Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to COVID variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
