JOAN PAIGE OBITUARY
Joan Picou Paige, age 79, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Los Angeles, CA for 30 years, until her return to New Orleans in 1994, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Passages Hospice. Born on December 11, 1948, to the union of Janice Dwight Picou and the late Alfred Adam Picou, Sr., Ms. Paige was educated at St. Joan of Arch Catholic School, P. L. Dunbar Elementary, A. C. Priestley Junior High School, Booker T. Washington (62) and Southern University of New Orleans. She retired from UCLA after being employed for over 26 years. Joan will be missed for her feistiness. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving mother, Janice D. Picou; loving daughter, Brandi L. Paige; stepson, Ron Paige (Timpson, TX); grandsons, Myron May and Brandon Paige (Inglewood, CA); beloved twin sister, Jean Goines (Inglewood, CA); sisters, Yvette and Simone Picou (Nashville, TN); brothers, Alfred A. Picou, Jr. and Tyson Picou (Terri); aunt, Marion Stephens (Dallas, TX); former son-in-law, Thomas May and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and parishioners. In addition to her father, Joan is also preceded in death by her daughter, Diondra Ann Picou; grand daughters, Alexis Michelle Wheaton and Bianca Simmons; brother, Osborne C. Picou, Sr; aunts, Rita Caldwell and Barbara Boissiere. Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church; Members of The Ladies of Solidarity, Carrollton/Hollygrove Multipurpose Senior Center; Staff and employees of Jefferson Transit, Carey New Orleans, Passages Hospice, University Medical Center New Orleans, Touro Hospital, and East Jefferson General Hospital are all invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Ms. Joan Picou Paige will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 8321 Burthe Street, New Orleans, LA 70118 on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10 am, Rev. Charles Andrus, SSJ, Pastor/Celebrant. Visitation 9 am in the church. Interment Private. Due to Covid-19, for the health and safety of all, everyone in attendance is asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing at all times.
