MAE WOODS OBITUARY
Mrs. Mae Esther Battley Woods, age 88, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2023. A native of Ventress, LA, she resided in New Orleans, LA for over 60 years. Mae is survived by her wonderful children, Mable Woods, Cynthia Wheeler (Sherman), Edgar "Hank" Woods, Jr. (Mamie), Jason Woods (Yolanda), Kenneth Woods, Sr., Wdonna Nelson (Athelstan) and Idell Arnaud (Lester); brother, Joseph Battley, Sr. (Mae Rose); sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other cherished relatives and friends. Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Mable Victorian Battley and a brother, Toussaint Battley, Sr. (Madris). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Mae Esther Battley Woods will be held at New St. Mark Baptist Church, 1630 Simon Bolivar Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10 am. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122. Visitation 9 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eagles Soar Community Foundation. Due to COVID variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
