LAWRENCE MARTIN OBITUARY
Mr. Lawrence Martin, Jr., affectionately known as 'Jr/Martin', entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Lawrence was born on May 20, 1932 in New Orleans. LA to the late Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Alma Gilbert. Lawrence was educated in the Orleans Parish Public School System and was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School, Class of 1952. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired Longshoreman (Local 3000). Lawrence leaves to cherish precious memories, three wonderful children, Pamela M. Cager, Phyllis M. Evans (Johnny) and Angela Ellis; grandchildren, Jevon (Noel) and Jenique Evans, Paul A. L. Cager, Sr. and Robert Cook; great grandchildren, Akyra Dyer, Amare Cousin, Jayceon Evans, Paul A. L. Cager, Jr., Peyton Cager, Jaylon Williams and Logan Boudreaux; brother, Clinton Howard (Betty); devoted niece, Mae Lois Martin (Roger); nieces, Eraz, Tasha and Melinda Martin, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elaine W. Martin; siblings, Lorraine Parks and Wilson Martin, Sr. Relatives and friends of the family; Pastor, Officers and Members of First Baptist of Verrett, LA and Branch Bell Baptist Churches; employees of LCMC Patient Access Department, Fresenius Kidney Care and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. Lawrence Martin, Jr., will be held at Branch Bell Baptist Church, 1231 St. Maurice Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117 on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10 AM, Elder Kevin L. Williams, Sr., Host Pastor; Rev. Raymond Smith, Pastor of First Baptist Church and Rev. Merlin Flores, Officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122.Visitation 8 am in the church.
