Obituary for Emanuel Anthony Maire

EMANUEL MAIRE OBITUARY
Emanuel Anthony Maire, a native of New Orleans, LA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 81. Mr. Maire began his education at Corpus Christi Elementary School and later attended Epiphany Elementary and St. Augustine High School, graduating in 1959. Upon graduation, he briefly attended LSUNO in New Orleans then moved into the work force. While in the work force, he was soon thereafter drafted into the United States Army, where he worked as a Land Surveyor. After being honorably discharged, he returned to New Orleans and worked at various local manufacturing companies until accepting a position with the United States Postal Service. While working, he finished his education at Loyola University receiving his degree in Bachelor of Arts in Commerce. He accepted a position with the Internal Revenue Service and after a short time, returned to the United States Postal Service, retiring with over 35 years of service. Mr. Maire is the son of the late Manuel Maire, Jr.and Doris Rock Olsen. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his mother-in- law, Elizabeth Morney. Survivors include his beloved wife, Carolyn; children, Gretchen Maire Davis of New Orleans, LA, Melissa (Gregory) Dejan of Atlanta, GA, Danielle (Toby D.) Lockhart of Killeen, TX and Emanuel Jr. (Sanikqa) Maire of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Steven, II(Darlyn) and Sheryl Davis, Gregory and Gabriella Dejan, Sydney Jackson and Landon Lockhart, Daijah, Mason, and Laylah Maire; great grandchildren, Steven III, Dakota, Sienna and Dorian Davis; siblings, Eric (Rosemary) Maire of Hollister, CA, Brent(Susan) Maire of Clairmont, CA, and Vanessa (David) Fitzgerald of Camarillo, CA. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. Emanuel Anthony Maire at will be held at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:30 AM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 8:30 AM in the church. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
