Dawud Abdul Lateef El-amin was born Thomas Jay Freeman, Jr., on February 22, 1951 in New Orleans, LA. Dawud obtained the ultimate healing when ALLAH called him home on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 8:55 am in Margate, Florida. He was the first son of the union between Thomas Jay Freeman and Gloria Swanson-Freeman. Dawud leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Nurys Perez-El-amin; beloved children, Ayanna Freeman, Mushin Freeman, Avin Aishah El-amin; ,siblings, Erroll Freeman, Keith Freeman, Theresa Traxler, Douglas Freeman, Sonya Freeman and Tonya Freeman; eight grandsons and one granddaughter; A host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. All friends and loved ones are invited to attend the funeral service honoring the life and legacy of the late Dawud Abdul Lateef El-amin ( Thomas Jay Freeman, Jr.) which will be held at Masjid-ur-Rahim, 1238 N. Johnson St. New Orleans, LA on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 12:15 pm. Interment Carrollton Cemetery, 1701 Hillary Street (at Green Street) New Orleans, LA 70118 at 2:30 pm. Visitation will begin at 10 am. A Repast will be held after the interment at 1359 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116 at 3:30 pm.
