Obituary for Celia Mae ""Moma Celia"" Harris (Brooks)

CELIA BROOKS-HARRIS OBITUARY
Celia Mae Brooks-Harris, a native New Orleanian and resident of Pineville, LA, affectionately known as, "Moma Celia", was born on February 1, 1940 to the late Frances Davis and Henry Brooks. She transitioned on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She was the youngest sibling of the late Henry Joseph Brooks. Celia accepted the Lord at an early age and was a longtime member of Pure Light Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Andre' Z. Sigler, Pastor/Teacher, until 2005, Post Hurricane Katrina. She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church, Pineville, LA on October 2, 2005 under the leadership of Dr. Joshua Joy Dara, Sr., Pastor/ Teacher/Author. In addition to her parents and brother she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Evette Matricia Dinkins. Celia enjoyed travel, spending time with her family, attendance to "Seniors Having Fun" meetings and activities, member of the Usher Board and overseer of the Junior Ushers. Celia leaves to cherish precious memories, daughters, Starr Renee Maniece, (Walter), Kevin Marie Mimms (Ellis) and Danna Charlene Morris (Joel); seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, a nephew, cousin, best friend, Gloria Coston, other cousins, relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family; Pastor, Officers and Members of Pure Light Baptist Church, Zion Hill Baptist Church of Pineville, LA, First Emanuel Baptist Church, Impact Church Jacksonville; Staff and employees of Starrz Styling Salon of Pineville, LA, Edwards Counseling, Jersey College of Jacksonville, Jefferson Public Schools, New Orleans Health Department are all invited to attend the funeral. A Homegoing Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Celia Mae Brooks Harris will be held at Pure Light Baptist Church, 3944 Martin Luther King Blvd, New Orleans, La 70125 on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10 am. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, 1900 Hillary Street, New Orleans, LA 70118. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing encouraged.
