OCTAVIA JACKSON OBITUARY
On April 18, 2023, Octavia Alice Jackson, quietly entered eternal rest at the graceful age of 92. She was born in New Orleans LA on October 1, 1930 to the late Joseph, Sr. and Angelina Zeno George. Wife of the late Herman Peter Jackson for 47 years and to this union, six children were born, Valerie Jackson-Givens , Beverly Butler, Bernard (late Jeanette), Frederick (Ellen), Kevin and Keith Jackson. At a young age, Mrs, Jackson attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church and after marrying her late husband Herman, she joined Beecher Memorial UCC Church of New Orleans , LA. Following the death of her husband, she relocated to live with her daughter, Valerie in Seattle, WA in 2001. Later on in 2013 she moved to Mesquite, TX, where she joined " Inspired to Live Church." Mrs. Jackson was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School and was employed at Mercy Hospital as a housekeeper. She also worked as a domestic housekeeper and was a seamstress in the community. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, Godmother and loving grandmother, She leaves to cherish precious memories, her six children, seventeen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Octavia is also preceded in death by her siblings, Caroline, Joseph, Jr., Emmanuel, Chester, Elizabeth, Shirley, Gloria and Stephen George. Relatives and friends; Pastor, Officers and members of Beecher Memorial UCC Church; Members of the National Association of letter carriers local union branch 124 are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Octavia Alice Jackson will be held at Beecher Memorial UCC Church, 1914 North Miro, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10 am, Pastor Brenda Square and Pastor Gwen Smith, Officiants. Interment St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, 1401 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
