RUTH BYERS OBITUARY
Mrs. Ruth Lucius Byers, age 93, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Ruth was born in New Orleans, LA on September 17, 1929 to the union of George and Thelma Dominick Lucius. Her husband of 64 years, Virgil Joseph Byers, Sr. preceded her in death on March 3, 2023. She is lovingly survived by her children, Torrie Marie Byers (John), Virgil Joseph Byers, Jr. (Marya), Paula Ann Byers-Reese and Patrick Anthony Byers, (Angela); grandchildren, Jerry III and Ryan Reese (Elizabeth), Kayla Nelson (Joseph), Kristen, Kennedi, Nolan, Aubrey and Evan Byers; great grandchildren, Nomi and Nora Nelson and Cole Reese; siblings, Lilian Trevigne (Henry), George, Paul (Sheryl) and Oliver Lucius (Jackie); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends; Priest and Parishioners of Corpus Christi/ Epiphany Catholic Church are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Ruth Lucius Byers will be held at Corpus Christi/ Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10 am. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 9 am in the church. Repast to follow at 6900 Bamberry Street. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
