CYNTHIA DESMOND OBITUARY
Cynthia Maria Desmond departed this life peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born in New Orleans, LA to the late John Seabrook Alston, Jr. and Cecilia Agnes Carr-Alston on January 3, 1946. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her eldest son, John Paul Desmond; brothers, Roman Alston and John Charles Alston, Sr. Leaving to cherish her precious memories are those to whom she is survived by, her loving and devoted son Timothy Daniel Desmond, (Timmy as she affectionately called him) and daughter-in-law, Kelly Brossett-Desmond; two grandchildren, Macie Elizabeth Desmond (Jeremy Pierre) and Daniel John Desmond (DJ as she referred to him) and her only great granddaughter, Autumn Elizabeth Pierre; sister-in-law, Linda Alston, two of her lifelong, devoted friends, Valerie "Val" Savona Dube, her best friend who through out their lifetime, displayed unconditional love and unwavering support for one another and Dolores "Dee" Schwandt, who in her final days, unselfishly and without hesitation accepted the role as her daily caretaker and serviced her every need; nieces, nephews, a host of many other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to give a special Thank you to the staff of Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care they provided; Friends and Co-workers of National Canal Villere Supermarkets, La Capitol Federal Credit Union, Regions Bank, St. Joseph Academy and Class of 1964 are all invited to attend the memorial. A Celebration Service honoring the Life of the late Cynthia Maria Desmond will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 10 am. Interment St. Louis #3 Cemetery, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing encouraged.
