SHANELLE JAMES OBITUARY
On Monday, May 1, 2023 at the age of 45, Shanelle "Nelly" Nacelyn James departed this life for eternal rest after a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong native of New Orleans, LA. Shanelle was born to the union of Cynthia James Bethencourt and the late Nace James, Jr. In 1994, she graduated from McMain High School and became a certified nursing assistant. In addition to her loving mother, Shanelle is also survived by her only child, John A. James (Bianca); precious grandchildren, Legend (KeyAnna), Legacy, Lore' and Lennox; devoted sister, Shawn James; half-siblings, Daintia and Ambinequa Brock, Tikesha Perkins and Dedric Knox, Sr.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family and friends; Pastor, Officers and members of First Emanuel and First Evangelist Baptist Churches are invited to attend the funeral. A Homegoing Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Ms. Shanelle "Nelly" Nacelyn James will be held at St. Bernard Community Baptist Church, 3938 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122 on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10 am, Pastor William Holmes, IV, Officiating. Interment: Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA 70127. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to COVID variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
