JOHN RAY OBITUARY
Mr. John Ray, A long time resident of New Orleans entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Lafon Nursing Home. Mr. Ray was born January 18, 1930 in Indianola, MS to the late Berkem and Lola Ray. He was joined in Holy matrimony to Leola Jenkins on August 31, 1950 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage until she passed away in 2016. For years he was employed by Winn Dixie and Nationals as a truck driver. John was a family man and enjoyed making memories with his family. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Ray. Those left to cherish his memory include a son, John Ray, Jr. (Sheila); grandchildren, Gary Ray (Ahtika), Chrishon Bolds (Rudolph) and John Ray, III (Sachiko); great grandchildren, Gerald Watson, III, Gary Ray, Jr., Riley and Raven Bolds, Misa and Sae Ray. Family and Friends are invited to attend the funeral. A Home Going Celebration honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. John Ray will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet-Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10 am. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122. Visitation 9 am in the Chapel.
