Obituary for Racquel "(Nee Porter)" Ezell (Jude)

Racquel Jude Ezell (née Porter), born June 1st, 1971 in New Orleans, LA was called home to her Lord, Savior and Abba Father on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024. She is survived by her husband Reneè Ezell, daughters Randi Ezell-Kelly (Brandon Kelly), Rian Ezell, and Reece Ezell, and her first grandchild, Aero Kelly. In addition to her immediate family she is survived by her mother, Lorraine Jupiter (née Vigee), sister, Dana Heaton (née Porter) with her children and grandchildren, sister, Raynette Lumas (née Gilyot; Juan Lumas) with her children, and other extended family. She is proceeded in death by her brother Raymond Gilyot, both her maternal and paternal grandparents, and a host of aunts, uncles, and other loved ones.

In her youth Racquel attended St. Peter Claver Elementary School and Cabrini High School as a teen. She later attended Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) for her Undergraduate degree and the University of New Orleans (UNO) for both her Masters and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees. Once retired from her position as a tenured Associate Professor with SUNO, she devoted herself full time to her passions for carpentry, oil painting, sketching, photography, and writing.

Her love, obedience, and honor for God permeated all aspects of her life and art, and she will be dearly and deeply missed. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Racquel Jude Ezell will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 10 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave, New Orleans, LA 70122.
